According to the Q1 2026 preliminary statistics published by HAIC - the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies, at the end of March, the Greece insurance market totaled at EUR 1.59 billion, 16% up y-o-y.

According to data, the Greek life insurance segment saw a strong revival, increasing by 27.2% y-o-y to EUR 778.8 million. Most of the growth in business came from the “Life insurance linked to investment funds” line, which saw a 55% increase in premiums and added 6 percentage points to its weight in the market portfolio. The non-life insurance subclasses expanded by slightly over 7% y-o-y to EUR 814.4 million.

Of the 43 insurance enterprises, 26 were established in Greece in the form of S.A. Insurance Company, 1 in the form of mutual insurance cooperative, 12 as branches of foreign insurance enterprises and 4 European insurance enterprises operating under the FOS status.
