The insurance sector as of September 30, 2025, amounted to KGS 7,465.35 million (EUR 72.85 million), which is 99.88% more y-o-y, as data published by the Service for regulation and supervision of the financial market of Kyrgyzstan show.
Mandatory insurance makes up the largest share in the market premium portfolio (35.95%), followed by property and personal insurance. Growth was observed across all lines of business, except for liability and life insurance.
A significant increase in mandatory insurance, particularly in MTPL (2.2 times), indicates expansion of the insurance system's coverage.
The volume of ceded reinsurance premiums increased to KGS 1,334.6 million (+4.6%), according to the insurance market report for the first nine months of 2025, published by the Service for regulation and supervision of the financial market of Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, the share of domestic reinsurance (within the country) increased to KGS 255.5 million (+65.3%), reflecting strengthening of the domestic insurance market and reduced dependence on foreign reinsurers.
According to the report, total number of insurance contracts reached 2.58 million units (+35%), which indicates widespread involvement of individuals and businesses in insurance. The regulator noted that 2.58 million insurance contracts is a new record for the Kyrgyz insurance market.
As of September 30, 2025, total paid claims amounted to KGS 877.12 million (+60.17% y-o-y)/EUR 8.56 million.
The sector’s total assets increased by 13.6% to KGS 14.98 billion. Total equity rose by 28.8%, reflecting strengthening of companies' financial stability. ROA increased from 4% to 6%, and ROE from 9% to 9.2%, demonstrating effective asset management.
As of September 30, 2025, 15 insurers were active in the market. GSO holds the lead, with a 25.33% market share. It is followed by ARSENAL Kyrgyzstan and NSK. The top three composition remained unchanged compared to the same period last year.
