STATISTICS: MOLDOVA 3Q2014: Insurance premiums totaled MDL 900 million, while claims increased by 28%

In the first nine months of the current year, gross premiums written by the 16 insurance companies active on the Moldavian market totaled MDL 899.88 million, up by 3.31% compared to the same period of 2013, according to the data of the National Commission for Financial Markets.

At the same time, in European currency, Moldavian insurers registered a decrease of 8.8%, to EUR 48.42 million due to the depreciation of the national currency by 14%.

Moreover, insurance companies paid claims totaling MDL 408.82 million (EUR 22 million), a figure higher by 28% compared to 3Q2013.

In the reporting period, gross written premiums on the non-life segment reached to MDL 845.41 million, up by 3.05% compared with the similar period of 2013.

Also, life insurance companies (GRAWE CARAT, ASITO, SIGUR-ASIGUR) written MDL 54.47 million premiums (+7.69%).

Insurers portfolios are dominated by the motor insurance classes (MTPL, Motor Hull and Green Card) that amounted to MDL 562.53 million, up by 9% y-o-y.
