In 2017 Moldovan insurance market produced GWP in the amount of EUR 70.6 million (MDL 1.5 billion), 6.9% up y-o-y, according to the final data of the Supervisory Authority (CNPF), centralized by the specialized portal www.xprimm.md.

Claims paid by the companies decreased by 2.15% y-o-y and reached EUR 24.9 million (MDL 507.97 million).

The motor insurance segment had the biggest share of the total market, including MTPL with 24.5% share (EUR 17.3 million), followed by Green Card - 22.5% (EUR 15.6 million) and Motor Hull - 20.1% (EUR 14.2 million). The share of life insurance within the total GWP maintained low at only 6.58% followed by property insurance - 6.26% and GTPL - 3.57%.

Total paid claims of the market amounted to EUR 24.89 million in the previous year. Among them Motor Hull and MTPL reported 33.3% (EUR 8.3 million) and 33% (EUR 8.2 million) of the total volume of paid claims, followed by the Green Card segment - 16.1% (EUR 4 million).

The GWP leader is MOLDASIG (EUR 10.12 million) with a market share of 14.32%, followed by DONARIS VIG (EUR 10.08 million) and GRAWE CARAT Asigurari (EUR 10.08 million), among which there is a difference of GWP of only EUR 147, with a share of 14.27% each in the total GWP market. On the 4^th place is ASTERRA Grup, which climbed in the rankings two positions up compared to 2016, with EUR 6.97 million of GWP and 9.86% market share respectively.

Among other companies that reported significant increases in GWP in 2017 were GALAS - with over 60%, TRANSELIT - 23.7%, MOLDOVA-ASTROVAZ - 15.9% and ACORD Grup - 11.5%.
