BELARUS: Model law on MTPL may be adopted before the end of this year

29 November 2022 —
The model legislative act "On the system of compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of vehicles of the Union State" may be adopted before the end of this year, BELTA reports referring to Viktor Pinsky, Chairman of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on legislation and regulations.

"We have been working on it for quite a long time, we are entering the finish line. Today we heard the developers of this model law, and, in principle, we have a little bit left before its adoption. This is a matter of coordination by the relevant ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia and its adoption at the session", Victor Pinsky explained. "We plan to adopt it at the 63rd session of the Parliamentary Assembly, which should be held in December. We will have one more meeting of the commission, at which we must close all these issues. I hope that by the end of the year we will adopt this model law, and our states will be ready to work on the unification of legislation so that our citizens do not experience any problems with car insurance and settlement of insured events on the territory of our states", he added.

"There've been a lot of agreements. The difference is in our approaches to this model law. But we have already reached a consensus in principle, as the developers reported today - more than 80%. I hope that the model law will be adopted", Viktor Pinsky said.
