kiev1During the first 9 months of 2013, Belarusian insurance companies underwrote premiums of USD 527 million, 54.3% up y-o-y, according to the data provided by the Belarusian Ministry of Finance.

Thus, the voluntary insurance premiums reached USD 303 million, up by 81%, compared with the same period in 2012. Also, mandatory insurance generated underwritings worth USD 224 million, 29% up y-o-y. The weight of the voluntary insurance in the total GWP amount went up to 57.4% compared to 48.9% in January-September 2012.

Meanwhile, in the first 9 months, the paid claims totaled USD 216 million, showing an increase of 3pp y-o-y.

At the end of 2012, on the insurance market of Belarus there were 25 insurance companies, of which four life insurers.
