Belarusian motorists are actively purchasing Union State MTPL policies valid across the two countries (Belarus and Russia), according to Sergei Osenko, Head of the Main Insurance Supervision Department of the Ministry of Finance, according to BELTA.

"The system was launched on April 23 of this year and is gaining momentum. From that date through December 1, 66.8 thousand Union State MTPL policies were purchased, and 307 insurance claims for traffic accidents caused in the Russian Federation by Belarusian vehicle owners were registered. Belarusian insurance companies have already received 129 claims totaling RUB 21.65 million (~EUR 0.24 million), which is equivalent to BYN 802.93 thousand", Sergei Osenko said.
