STATISTICS: SLOVENIA, 1H2026: Maintaining a strong positive trend

The Slovenian insurance market maintained a strong positive trend, with GWP increasing y-o-y by almost 11%, to EUR 1.78 billion. The figures reflect a steady dynamic as compared with 1H2025.

At the end of the first half of 2026, life insurance accounted for 29.2% of the market portfolio, with GWP worth almost EUR 520.65 million, 4.15% more y-o-y. The Unit-Linked products line provided the strongest contribution to the life insurance segment’s growth, recording a 14% increase in premiums.

Out of the non-life insurance business lines, motor insurance accounted for the largest part (close to 54% of the non-life GWP). While Motor Hull accounted for 26% of the non-life portfolio, GWP for this LoB reached EUR 327.88 million, by 7.3% up y-o-y. The MTPL insurance class saw a 33.48% y-o-y increase in GWP, to EUR 349.79 million (27.7% of the non-life portfolio).

Property insurance accounts for a little less than a quarter of the non-life business, almost equally divided between fire insurance and damages to property insurance classes. Overall, GWP for property insurance reached GWP worth EUR 265.25 million, 3.11% up y-o-y. The “Fire and allied perils” provided for most of the property insurance growth, even if the overall dynamic of the property classes was rather modest.

According to previous comments of the supervising authority, the growth recorded by the motor and property insurance classes, is owed both to the increase in the number of policies and to higher insurance prices
