STATISTICS: KOSOVO, 1H2020: Insurers turned on profit at the end of June

The insurance market of Kosovo totaled EUR 46.36 million at the end of June 2020, 4.29% less y-o-y, data provided by the Central Bank (CBK) showed.

The figures revealed that the local market turned on "the green side", local insurers reporting aggregate net profit of EUR 4.9 million, from a EUR-2.7 loss at the end of June 2019.

In terms of GWP, life insurance premium decreased by more than 5% y-o-y to EUR 1.70 million, according to the "Financial System - Monthly Information" released on CBK website.

At the same time, non-life GWP decreased by 4.24% y-o-y to EUR 44.66 million, of which EUR 24.45 million related to Domestic MTPL, EUR 1.63 million - Border policies and EUR 18.57 million - other voluntary classes, according to "The Insurance Companies Activity" published by CBK.

13 insurers were active on the local market, of which 11 - non-life and 2 specialized life insurers. According to CBK, currently seven companies are foreign owned and are holding about 51.3% of total assets.
