STATISTICS:  ESTONIA, 1H2026: positive market trend, but claims expenses increase faster than premiums

Estonian insurers posted 1H2026 aggregate GWP worth EUR 349.49 million, up by 2% y-o-y, according to the market figures published by the Estonian National Statistics Board. Total paid claims by local insurers also increased, reaching EUR 217.09 million, 6.3% up y-o-y.

Total GWP reported on non-life insurance classes amounted to EUR 302.06 million (up 0.89% y-o-y), of which EUR 85.96 million – property insurance, EUR 83 million – MoD and EUR 59.43 million – Motor TPL. At the same time, the life insurance segment was up by just 10.2% y-o-y to EUR 47.43 million (~13.57% of total GWP).

The largest life insurer in the country in terms of GWP remained SWEDBANK Life Insurance SE (43.34% market share), while Swedbank P&C Insurance AS (18.4%) lead the non-life insurance segment.
