STATISTICS: Czech Rep. 3Q2017: MTPL and MoD generated together about one third of total GWP
At the end of September, the Czech insurance market amounted CZK 92.9 billion (about EUR 3.6 billion), representing a 3.8% y-o-y growth rate, according to the nine months market figures published by the Czech Insurance Association (CAP).

The life insurance segment showed a slight decrease of -0.2% y-o-y to CZK 32.5 billion, while the non-life sector was up by 6.1% y-o-y to CZK 60.4 billion.

The two motor sub-segments (MTPL and MoD) generated together about one third of total GWP (CZK 30 billion), Industry & Business policies (cl. 5-6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13 - without workers' compensation) - about 15% (CZK 14.2 billion), while Retail property & liability insurance accounted for about 9% share of total market.

In terms of GWP, the largest insurer in the country was CESKA pojistovna - the main arm of GENERALI CEE Holding (22.3% market share), followed by KOOPERATIVA pojistovna - member of Austrian VIENNA Insurance Group (20.4%) and ALLIANZ pojistovna - the local subsidiary of the German insurer (10.2%).
