BULGARIA: As of end-June insurance assets rise by 11.3% y-o-y

At the end of June this year total assets managed by Bulgarian insurance companies amounted to about BGN 12 billion (EUR 6.15 billion), which is 11.3% more y-o-y, SeeNews writes with reference to the central bank.

According to the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), the assets of non-life insurers increased by 11.5% on the year to some BGN 8.5 billion at the end of June, which represented a share of 70.6% of total insurance assets.

At the same time, the assets of life insurance companies rose by 10.7% y-o-y to some BGN 3.53 billion and accounted for a share of 29.4% of overall assets.

As of end-June, securities other than shares accounted for 47% of insurance companies' assets. The share of equities reached 26.1%, while receivables from insurance operations made up 7.2% of insurance companies' assets.

There were 47 insurance companies (12 life insurers and 35 non-life companies) active in Bulgaria at the end of June, two more than at the same time last year, the source added.
