Bosnia and Herzegovina: Sarajevo Insurance taken over by a new majority owner

19 February 2025 — Marina MAGNAVAL
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has lost control over the management of Sarajevo Insurance. The control has been taken over by other shareholders led by the Hrvić family from Tešanj, owners of AS Holding, osiguranje.hr writes.

The Federation holds 45.5% of the shares in Sarajevo Insurance, and the company Master Capital holds 14.9%. However, despite a significantly smaller share than that of the Government, Rusmir Hrvić turned other smaller shareholders to his side and took control over the company, first - over the Supervisory Board, then by appointing a new director.

It is noted that on the other hand, it would be good for the company itself to get a majority owner. According to data for last year, Sarajevo osiguranje ranked 6th in the Federation. Ahead of it are strong players: ASA Central osiguranje, the sector’s leader, followed by Adriatic osiguranje, Euroherc, Uniqa and Triglav.
