In 2025, total amount of paid claims is expected to reach CZK 19.2 billion (~EUR 0.79 billion), which exceeds the 2024 figure of almost CZK 18 billion by 7% and compared to the 2023 figure of CZK 16.7 billion, this means an increase of CZK 2.5 billion. In addition, new liabilities associated with long-term payments, especially from health claims, are expected to reach CZK 2.1 billion for 2025, which also exceeds the pre-Covid year of 2019 (CZK 2 billion). It is noted that the main reason for increasing claims liabilities lies mainly in claims inflation.
According to the Czech Office of Insurers, claim inflation is driven by increasing prices of labor and spare parts in car repair shops, along with gradual modernization of the vehicle fleet and thus higher technological and financial complexity of vehicle repairs. “The average property damage in compulsory insurance is expected to reach almost CZK 68,000 in 2026, which represents a doubling in just the last 12 years”, said Petr Jedlička, actuary at the Czech Office of Insurers.
The total number of insured vehicles of all types and categories with a valid insurance policy exceeded 9.71 million in the second half of 2025. Even though y-o-y growth of around 2.1% represents a lower dynamic compared to 2.9% in the second half of 2024, it can be expected that in the coming years the total number of insured vehicles (of all types and categories) will exceed 10 million.
