From October 1, 2024, there will be significant digitization in liability insurance. Online insurance registration will allow drivers to no longer keep Green Card policies with them, even in electronic form, the Czech Office of Insurers wrote.

Until now, it was necessary for drivers to have Green Card policies with them, first printed, from 2022 it was enough to show it on the screen of a mobile phone, and from October 1, drivers no longer have to carry it at all. "From October, online registration of insurance contracts will start working. Thanks to this, it will be possible to find out in real time whether a vehicle is insured or not. Both the police and, for example, the vehicle registry will have access to the records", explains Vladimír Krejzar, Director of the Claims Settlement Section of the Czech Office of Insurers.

According to the database of the Czech Office of Insurers, the number of insured vehicles is increasing. In the first half of this year, a total of 9,472,944 vehicles were insured. In the second half of last year, there were 9,295,217, i.e. almost 100,000 less. The database crossed the threshold of 9 million insured vehicles in 2022.
