ESTONIA: Insurers ascertained 327 fraud cases in 2011

Insurance companies ascertained 327 insurance fraud cases in Estonia in 2011 while 1.88 million euros worth of fraud was prevented with the help of preventive measures, LETA/National Broadcasting reports.

This forms around 1.5% of all loss insurance compensations, Estonian Insurance Companies Association announced.

69% of the frauds were connected to traffic (40%) and vehicle insurance (29%). This is due to the fact that these insurance types are the most widespread in Estonia. Fraud connected to property and traffic insurance grew and formed 10% and 16% of total number of fraud cases.
