Infinity Capital Investments becomes new shareholder in PAID Romania

19 June 2025 — Daniela GHETU
Infinity Capital Investments S.A., a Romanian financial investment company formerly known as SIF Oltenia, is set to become a significant shareholder in PAID Romania – the Natural Disaster Insurance Pool, the insurer managing the country’s mandatory home insurance scheme.

The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) approved the acquisition on June 18, 2025. Through direct and indirect purchases - including via its subsidiary Gravity Capital Investments - Infinity secured 26% of PAID’s share capital. The shares were acquired in late 2024 during insolvency auctions of three defunct insurers: ASTRA, CITY Insurance, and CARPATICA Asig.

Infinity Capital, listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange under the symbol INFINITY, has over three decades of experience and a diversified portfolio spanning tourism, agriculture, energy, real estate, and financial services. Its headquarters are in Craiova, and the company is led by CEO Sorin-Iulian Cioacă.

PAID Romania was founded in 2009 and officially began issuing mandatory home insurance policies in July 2010. It is a privately held insurer formed by a consortium of insurance companies and operates under Law 260/2008. As of May 2025, there were over 2.3 million active policies, covering nearly 24% of Romanian homes.

In a major recent move, PAID also completed a tenfold capital increase, raising its share capital from RON 19.3 million to over RON 193 million, a step aimed at strengthening its ability to respond to natural catastrophes.
