Jan Grzegorz Prądzyński has resigned as President of the Management Board of the Polish Insurance Association (PIU), ending an 18-year tenure at the helm of the organization. His resignation, submitted on 17 April 2026 for personal reasons, will take effect on 7 May 2026.
“It has been an honour to contribute to building an environment based on mutual respect, dialogue and responsibility. I am confident that the foundations laid will continue to support the stability and development of the Polish insurance market,” Prądzyński said.
A long-standing industry leader
Prądzyński has led PIU since 2008, steering the organization through a period marked by major regulatory transformation both in Poland and across the European Union. During his mandate, the association played a key role in shaping legislative and consultation processes, including the implementation of Solvency II, the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), and the development of long-term savings solutions such as Employee Capital Plans.
Under his leadership, PIU strengthened its institutional capacity, expanding its expert structures and enhancing analytical, reporting and market-support functions.
“President Prądzyński has built a strong and credible representation of the insurance sector. His consistency and ability to engage in constructive dialogue have contributed directly to market stability and predictability,” said Piotr Wrzesiński, Vice-President of PIU.
Anna Włodarczyk-Moczkowska, Chairwoman of the PIU Audit Committee, also highlighted the importance of the governance framework developed during his tenure, noting the establishment of “transparent and effective mechanisms of cooperation within the market and with regulators.”
Strengthening the sector’s voice in Poland and Europe
Throughout the past two decades, PIU has consolidated its role as a key platform for industry dialogue, organizing conferences, debates and educational initiatives aimed at increasing insurance awareness. The association has also reinforced its position as a reliable source of expertise for policymakers, media and academia.
At European level, PIU has actively contributed to industry discussions through its presence in Brussels and cooperation with organizations such as Insurance Europe and EIOPA, helping amplify the voice of the Polish market in regulatory debates.
Transition process underway
The Polish Insurance Association will continue its operations without interruption. In line with its statute, the Audit Committee has initiated the process of selecting a new President of the Management Board. A vote on the shortlisted candidates is scheduled to take place during the Ordinary General Meeting on 7 May 2026.
Until then, Piotr Wrzesiński will continue to serve as Vice-President and member of the Management Board, ensuring continuity in the organization’s leadership.
