According to Eurasia analysts, the growth rate of insurance payments to road accident victims has stabilized somewhat since the beginning of the year. However, there has been a sharp increase in the severity of insured events that not only caused significant damage to vehicles but also harm to lives and health of citizens. The number of such accidents grew by 54.04%, to 15,698 cases, compared to the same period last year.
"The number of insurance payments is an indirect but more accurate indicator of road accident rates in the country, since, unlike the statistics of the Prosecutor General's Office, it takes into account not only accidents with injuries, but all reported insurance claims, including those with minor damage", Eurasia said.
It is noted that in the first half of the year, 5.49 million vehicles were covered by compulsory motor insurance, of which more than 550,000 were also insured under MoD.
"Since the beginning of the year, the severity of accident consequences has increased significantly, especially on national highways. In large cities, the number of minor accidents continues to rise, along with the growth of the vehicle fleet. These factors are prompting drivers to purchase voluntary insurance products – Motor Hull, which also covers other risks. By the end of 2025, the number of accidents could exceed 150,000", the company's analysts added.
