According to data reported by insurers to the UFG Information Center, there were 30.34 million active third-party liability (OC) policies for motor vehicle owners at the end of June 2025. During the first half of the year, injured parties reported nearly 509,000 claims under third-party liability (OC) insurance policies. During the period under review, insurers paid out a total of PLN 5.83 billion under third-party liability (OC) insurance policies.
At the end of June, there were 7.98 million active comprehensive motor insurance contracts, and the combined comprehensive insurance/third-party liability (OC) ratio reached 26.3%. This indicates that interest in this product is steadily growing. Over 424,000 comprehensive insurance claims were reported to insurers during the period under review. Total payments reached nearly PLN 4.4 billion.
It is noted that in 1H2025, compulsory motor insurance market continued to grow at a double-digit rate, although significantly slower than in the first quarter. According to data from the UFG, a total of PLN 9.77 billion in GWP were collected in the first half of 2025 from third-party liability insurance for motor vehicle owners. This was 10.34% more vs PLN 8.85 billion recorded a year ago.
Nine of the ten largest players on the third-party liability insurance market are domestic insurance companies. The leader is Warta, which, after years of dominance by PZU SA, climbed to the top in the first quarter of this year. In the first half of 2025, the company collected PLN 2.45 billion in GWP (+30.52% y-o-y). PZU SA took second place in the ranking. The insurer's GWP increased by 2.84%, from PLN 2.22 billion a year ago to PLN 2.29 billion at the end of June 2025. ERGO Hestia ranked third, collecting PLN 1.56 billion in premiums (+3.95%), the source writes.
