STATISTICS:  AZERBAIJAN, 1H2025: the share of life insurance increased to 58%

The insurance market of Azerbaijan in the first half of 2025 grew by 12.67%, to AZN 817.05 million (EUR 409.67 million), according to the data published by the National Bank.

The share of life insurance in the market premium portfolio increased to 58.10%, while the share of non-life insurance decreased to 41.90%. The largest classes on the market with double-digit shares in the total GWP are voluntary life insurance (51.63%), motor insurance (voluntary and mandatory combined), and medical insurance. Of these, voluntary life insurance recorded the highest growth rates in the first half of the year, while medical insurance grew the least.

Insurers' paid claims in the first half of 2025 increased by 21.38%, amounting to AZN 432.20 million (EUR 216.71 million). Among the three largest insurance classes mentioned above, medical insurance saw a decrease in paid claims by 5.66% in local currency, while in voluntary life insurance, paid claims grew the most - by almost 29% (in AZN).

At the end of the first half of 2025, 16 insurers were active on the market. PASHA LIFE (AZN 390.81 million) firmly holds the lead, while PASHA Insurance (AZN 182.27 million) still ranks second. Ateshgah life took third place, pushing Qala Insurance to fourth.
