STATISTICS:  ROMANIA, 3Q2025: positive evolution, but at a slower pace than in the previous year

Insurers active on the Romanian market wrote GWP worth EUR 3.69 billion in the 3Q 2025, which is by 8.63% more y-o-y. Out of this total, local insurers accounted for EUR 3.17 billion, while the remaining EUR 519 million were generated by branches of EU insurers operating on FOS/FOE.

Life insurance saw a 17.7% GWP growth, to EUR 756.6 million, the highest contribution to this growth, in absolute figures, coming from the UL products line.

On the non-life side, GWP reached EUR 2.93 billion, 6.5% up y-o-y. The foreign branches’ contribution to the total non-life GWP decreased from 15.11% in 3Q 2024 to 14.07%, a trend driven mostly by the non-life insurance segment.

Motor insurance lines account together for 57.2% of the market portfolio, which is a lower percentage than the previous year (58.5%), a trend already established last year. Overall, GWP for motor insurance increased y-o-y by 6.24%, with a better dynamic on the Motor Hull class (7.65).

After the surge in 3Q2024, fire insurance line saw an almost 21% increase in GWP, the growth pace slowed down significantly in 3Q2025, to 6.5% y-o-y. Overall, property insurance business grew by 7.33%, to EUR 443 million.
