The non-life sector's contribution was of about 80.3% of total GWP - EUR 212.8 million, up by 7.6% y-o-y, while the life-insurance companies contributed the remainder, which was 9.9% higher than in the first nine months of 2016.
Of total GWP, the 13 FBiH-based insurers (one of Bosnia's two autonomous entities) reported GWP of EUR 184 million, up by 6.4% y-o-y, of which EUR 140 million was accounted for by the non-life subclasses. The insurance market of Srpska Republic (Bosnia's other entity) totaled EUR 81 million, or 12% more y-o-y.
According to the AZOBiH figures, the battle for the market ranking at the top level remained opened for the year-end, at the end of September 2017, the first three insurers being placed at a very small distance in terms of GWP.
Thus, the Federation-based SARAJEVO osiguranje was the largest insurer in the country with GWP of EUR 21.77 million, followed by other two FBiH insurers: EUROHERC osiguranje (EUR 21.74 million) and UNIQA osiguranje (EUR 21.73 million).
WIENER Osiguranje, a unit of the Austrian Vienna Insurance Group, ranked eight being the largest RS-based insurer with GWP of EUR 14.44 million
