STATISTICS: Montenegrin insurers Q1 GWP up 9%

The 11 Montenegrin insurers activating on the market reported aggregate gross written premiums of EUR 17.06 million for the January-March 2015 period, up from EUR 15.63 million in 1Q2014, the figures published by the country's Insurance Supervision Agency indicated.

Non-life insurance premiums totaled EUR 14.39 million, up by 10.52% y-o-y, accounting for 84.32% of the total GWP. On the life insurance segment, the value of GWP increased 2.21% to EUR 2.68 million.

In terms of GWP, LOVCEN Osiguranje had the biggest market share on the non-life insurance segment (40.48%), followed by GENERALI Osiguranje Montenegro (21.04%) and SAVA Montenegro (18.73%).

GRAWE Osiguranje is the market leader on the life insurance segment with a share of 33.22%, followed by UNIQA zivotno osiguranje (19.07%) and WIENER Stadtische Zivotno Osiguranje (16.28%).

Eleven insurance companies were active in Montenegro, six life insurers and five non-life insurers.
