Slovakia: Central Bank greenlights Generali to operate as an EU branch

23 November 2021 —
The National Bank of Slovakia - NBS, has approved the organizational merger of the Slovak insurer Generali with Generali Ceska Pojistovna from the Czech Republic, local media announced.

This will officially happen by the end of this year, as Financial Report (www.finreport.sk) wrote here.

Generali CEE Holding announced in June 2021 the merger of its Czech and Slovak units: Generali Ceska pojistovna and Generali Slovakia. After the merger, Generali in Slovakia will operate as a branch of Generali Ceska pojistovna, under the name Generali Poistovna, a branch of an insurance company from another Member State.

"We want to use the expertise, capacities and best experience of both companies to permanently connect teams and create a new structure that makes sense. We have a great opportunity to join forces, to use the size and power of Generali Ceska pojistovna and the simplicity and innovative drive of Slovak Generali to provide the best services for our customers and partners together", said at that time Roman JURAS, CEO of Generali Ceska pojistovna and Country Manager of the Generali Group for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

"Generali is one of the fastest growing and most stable insurance companies in Slovakia. We want to retain this position so that we can continue to face unexpected situations such as the current pandemic, in a timely and appropriate manner", said Juraj JURCIK, CEO of Generali Poistovna.

As previously Generali CEE Holding announced, Roman JURAS will be the Country Manager and CEO for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Juraj JURCIK will be a member of the Czech-Slovak Board of Directors and at the same time he will manage the Slovak Generali branch, while he will also be responsible for sales area in Slovak.
