According to the Estonian Insurance Association (EKsL), in 1H2025, employer health insurance benefits totaling nearly EUR 9 million were paid, with 64,900 employees insured.

Last year, 244,500 employer health insurance claims totaling EUR 14.5 million were paid, and considering that 60,530 employees were insured, one person had an average of four health insurance claims per year, worth a total of EUR 240.

According to Andres Piirsalu, a member of the board of EKsL, regardless of the difficult situation in the Estonian economy, employer health insurance has been growing at a rapid pace. “In the first half of this year, the number of insurance contracts was 17% more y-o-y”, Piirsalu emphasized. The member of the board of EKsL added that employer health insurance has become the voluntary insurance service with the largest number of benefits in Estonia.

According to Evelin Strikholm, risk manager for personal insurance at If Kindlustus, the number of claims is growing along with the number of people insured. “On average, one person has four health insurance claims per year worth EUR 240, but considering the growth of all insured employees, this is the most extensive and rapidly developing insurance service”, said Strikholm.
