STATISTICS:  GEORGIA, FY2025: GWP rose double-digitally, while paid claims increased only slightly

At the end of 2025, Georgia's insurance market grew by 12.06% in local currency, reaching GEL 1,411.22 million (EUR 444.66 million), according to data published by the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia. It's worth noting that in euro, market growth was only 3.47%, due to the change in the lari/euro exchange rate compared to 2024.

According to the statistics for 2025, 21% of Georgia's population has health insurance, and 8% of registered vehicles are insured, representing a 1% increase y-o-y. Specifically, according to 2025 data, 785,361 people have health insurance, vs 741,174 people in 2024, which means an increase of approximately 6%.

As for motor insurance, 151,835 vehicles were insured at the end of last year, vs 138,219 insured vehicles in 2024. Remarkably, motor insurance has tripled over the past ten years. For example, in 2015, the number of insured vehicles was only 47,561.

Total paid claims at the end of 2025 increased by only 1.44%, reaching GEL 770.59 million (EUR 242.81 million). However, double-digit growth was seen in major segments such as health insurance (+18.74%) and motor insurance (MTPL and Motor Hull summed, +14.53%).

At the end of 2025, 19 insurance companies operated in the market, with TBC leading in terms of GWP (GEL 260.13 million), relegating GPI Holding (GEL 251.42 million) to second place. Aldagi rounded out the top three with GEL 227.58 million.
