In the first half of 2026, Georgia's insurance market grew by 15.95% in local currency, reaching GEL 930.03 million (EUR 308.41 million), according to data published by the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia.
Non-life insurance continues to dominate the market, accounting for approximately 92% of the total; however, the share of life insurance rose slightly from 7.83% to 8.10% in the reporting period. Both non-life and life insurance recorded double-digit growth.
Health insurance made the largest contribution to the market premiums (49.50%). It is followed by motor insurance (Motor Hull and MTPL summed) and property insurance.
Total paid claims increased by 18.20% y-o-y, reaching GEL 428.57 million (EUR 142.12 million). Health insurance also generated the largest volume of paid claims (GEL 237.90 million).
Among 19 insurance companies operating in the market, TBC Insurance is leading in terms of GWP (GEL 150.84 million). Imedi L improved its ranking position from fourth to second, finishing almost neck-and-neck with the market leader (GEL 150.81 million). Aldagi rounded out the top 3, collecting GEL 136.23 million.
