The insurance market of Kosovo totaled EUR 170.5 million at the end of 2025, 6.4% more y-o-y, according to data provided by the Central Bank (CBK). The Bank ceased providing results for the life insurance business, which means this figure is related exclusively to the non-life business.
Out of the total GWP, about 56.36% or EUR 96.13 million related to mandatory MTPL: EUR 86.9 million for Domestic MTPL and EUR 9.23 million for border policies.
Paid claims amounted to EUR 85.13 million, 11.14% up y-o-y, with the mandatory MTPL LoB generating about 56% of this amount.
The figures reveal that the quarterly aggregate market result was positive, the 12 local insurers (of which seven are foreign owned) reporting a net profit of EUR 16.8 million, ~10% better than at the end of December 2024.
The assets of insurance companies at the end of December 2025 reached EUR 357.69 million, which is relatively the same value compared to the previous month. The structure of assets in the insurance sector consists of the balance sheet with commercial banks, which accounts for 49.59%, securities and other assets 25.83% and reinsurance with a participation of 13.83%.
