Macedonian insurers' gross written premiums decreased by 0.17% on the year to MKD 2.14 billion (EUR 34.75 million) in the first three months of the year, according to the country's insurance supervisory agency.

GWP from non-life insurance, which represented 89% of Macedonia's insurance market in the reviewed period, shrank by 2.39% y-o-y to MKD 1.90 billion, while the life GWP reported a 22% growth-rate to MKD 240.41 million.

At the end of March 2016, the largest non-life insurer was TRIGLAV (16.89% market share), while the largest life insurer was CROATIA (45.60%).
