At the end of March 2019, the Macedonian insurance market totaled about a quarter billion MKD (EUR 40 million), up by 4.6% y-o-y, according to data provided by the local Insurance Supervision Agency.

GWP from non-life insurance increased by 1.9% y-o-y to MKD 2.1 billion (about 84% of total GWP), while the life insurance segment reported premiums of MKD 400 million, 22.7% more y-o-y, official figures show.

In terms of GWP, the largest life insurer in the country was the local unit of CROATIA osiguranje (with GWP of MKD 184 million, ~EUR 3 million, a 46% market share), while the local subsidiary of Slovenian TRIGLAV led the non-life ranking (EUR 5.5 million, 16.2%).
