In 3Q 2024, the Triglav Group's earnings before tax stood at EUR 124.7 million vs. the EUR 10.1 million loss recorded the previous year mostly because of major CAT claims and the price regulation of supplemental health insurance. Net earnings amounted to EUR 106.8 million (9M 2023: EUR –9.6 million).

The Slovene insurance market fell by 10.8% in 3Q 2024, consolidated GWP reaching EUR 2.09 billion, according to data provided by the Slovenian Insurance Association. Life insurance GWP increased by 7.7%, to EUR 656.4 million, while non-life insurance decreased by 17.26%, to EUR 1.44 billion.

The Slovene insurance market fell by 10.37% in the first half of 2024, consolidated GWP reaching EUR 1.45 billion. Life insurance GWP increased by 8.2%, to EUR 444.27 million, most of the increase coming from the traditional life insurance lines (EUR 60.65 million), while the Unit-Linked line contributed with about EUR 18 million.

The Triglav Group delivered a strong performance in 1H 2024, its total business volume reaching EUR 942.9 million, 2% down y-o-y. The Group recorded a gross profit of EUR 89.5 million, significantly higher y-o-y. Based on 1H results, Triglav expects year-end gross profit in the range of EUR 130 - 150 million.

The Slovenian insurance market totaled EUR 746.2 million at the end of March 2024, an 9.6% decrease y-o-y, according to the Slovenian Insurance Association's quarterly figures. Life insurance GWP posted a positive double-digit rate of +10.1% y-o-y to EUR 217.4 million, while the general insurance segment decreased by -15.8% y-o-y to EUR 529 million (or 70.8% of total GWP) due to the over 90% decrease in health insurance, from EUR 175 million in Q1 2023 to ~EUR 15 million at the end of March 2024.

The 30th Anniversary
Insurance Days in Slovenia, organized every year by the Slovenian Insurance Association, were held on June 6-7 at the Grand Hotel Bernardin. This year's event had the slogan “Insurance matters”. It was focused on climate change, natural disasters, cyber threats, health insurance, and strengthening diversity, equity, fairness and inclusion.

the new statistical insurance bulletin of the Slovenian Insurance Association (SIA), in 2023 the market had the highest annual rise since 2007. After two years of negative growth (almost stagnation) life insurance increased, while non-life segment grew for the ninth year in a row.

The Slovene insurance market grew by 9% in 2023, consolidated GWP reaching EUR 3.05 billion, which is 9% more y-o-y. At the same time, paid claims went up by almost 23%, to EUR 2.22 billion, driven by the compensations pai after the floods in June 2023.

The results of the Eurobarometer survey published last year show that the level of financial literacy in the EU is low on average (18% of EU citizens have high financial literacy). There are considerable differences between EU countries. Only in four EU member states 25% of people have a high level of financial literacy, i.e. the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, and Slovenia.
